About this course
BSc (Hons) Cyber Security is a software engineering degree focusing on the protection of digital systems, networks, and data infrastructure against evolving threats. Core topics include Programming, Computer Architecture, Embedded Systems, Statistics, Research Methods, and Communication & Writing. Students can complete the course over three years, or choose a four-year route that includes an optional placement year or a foundation year. The first year establishes fundamental competence through modules such as Introduction to Networks, Introduction to System Architecture and Automation, Software Principles, Core Mathematics for Computing, and Cyber Crime Fundamentals. The second year advances into specialized technical operations with Cloud and IoT, Network Routing and Switching Essentials, Digital Security, Networking Technologies, Principles of Digital Forensics, and a Ruskin Module. The final year concentrates on advanced defense, investigation, and management through Ethical Hacking and Countermeasures, Digital Forensics and Malware Science, Professional Issues: Computing and Society, Security Management, Operations and Analytics, and Software Security.
