BEng Mechanical Engineering
About this course
BEng (Hons) Mechanical Engineering is a mechanical engineering degree focusing on the design, analysis, and testing of physical mechanical systems and industrial processes. Core topics include Programming, Control Systems, Mathematical Modelling, Research Methods, Project Management, Critical & Analytical Thinking, and Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning. The curriculum is delivered through a blend of classroom study and practical workshop sessions, incorporating industry-led projects with external companies. The first year establishes fundamental technical knowledge through compulsory modules such as Applied Engineering Mathematics, Structural Mechanics, Engineering Dynamics, and Manufacturing and Materials Project. The second year builds on these principles with Solid Mechanics and Machine Elements Design Project, Fluid Mechanics and Heat Transfer, Advanced Engineering Mathematics, and Engineering Thermodynamics. The final year involves advanced applications and independent study, featuring Automation and Control, Advanced Structural Analysis and Design, and Research Methods and Individual Project.
