About this course
BSc (Hons) in Criminology, a sociology degree focused on crime, criminal justice issues, and the operation of criminal justice agencies in modern society. Core topics include Data Analysis, Statistics, and Research Methods. This four-year course includes a professional placement year and a final-year dissertation. The first year introduces foundational social science and crime concepts through compulsory modules such as Becoming a social scientist 1, Crime and society, and Criminal justice processes and practices. The second year advances theoretical and practical knowledge through modules including Global crimes of the powerful, Qualitative analysis: the power of immersion, and Quantitative data analysis: the power of statistics. The third year consists of a professional placement. The fourth year centres on the Criminology dissertation.
