About this course
BSc (Hons) in Mathematics and Physics, a physics and mathematics degree exploring the interplay between abstract mathematical theory and empirical physical laws. Core topics include Mathematical Modelling. The curriculum includes a self-directed learning component in the final year. The first year establishes fundamental concepts through modules such as Core pure and applied mathematics A, Core pure and applied mathematics B, Foundations of physics 1, and Mathematics and physics skills 1. The second year advances quantitative proficiency via Advanced linear algebra, Differential equations and vector calculus, Foundations of physics 2, Partial differential equations, and Physics skills 2. The third year centres on Self-directed learning.
