About this course
BSc (Hons) in Sociology and Social Policy, a sociology and social policy degree focused on societal structures, institutions, and welfare systems. Core topics include Data Analysis, Statistics, Research Methods, Policy Analysis, and Ethics & Professional Practice. Students complete a compulsory dissertation in their final year. The first year covers the foundations of the discipline through modules such as Becoming a social scientist 1, Social problems, social change and the state, and The making of modern society. The second year advances theoretical and practical skills through Contemporary sociological theory, Policy making: politics and practices, Qualitative analysis: the power of immersion, and Quantitative data analysis: the power of statistics. The final year concludes with advanced study including Policy analysis for professional practice and Sociology and social policy dissertation.
