About this course
MComp (Hons) in Computer Science, a computer science degree centred on software systems design, development, and advanced computing theory. Core topics include Programming, Systems Design, Computer Architecture, Research Methods, and Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning. The five-year degree incorporates an integrated study abroad period, a professional placement, and substantial individual and research projects. The first year establishes core foundations through compulsory modules such as Programming 1, Programming 2, Computer systems architectures, and Discrete mathematics and databases. The second year progresses to advanced concepts with modules including Advanced programming, Algorithms and complexity, Cybersecurity, and Machine learning. The third year centres on an extensive Individual project. The fourth year involves a compulsory Study abroad period alongside a Professional placement in industry. The final fifth year concludes with an advanced Research project.
