About this course
MEng (Hons) in Mechanical Engineering, a mechanical engineering degree centred on physical science, mathematics, and computing to assess engineering systems. Core topics include Research Methods. Practical project work forms a central part of the curriculum, incorporating group and individual project work alongside a professional placement year and an individual project. The first year covers the foundations through Design, materials and manufacturing 1, Engineering mathematics, Mechatronics, and Solid mechanics 1. The second year continues with Control and mechatronics, Design, materials and manufacturing 2, Engineering computation, and Solid mechanics 2. The third year consists of a professional placement. The fourth year focuses on advanced topics through Group design and business project, Heat transfer, Structural mechanics, and System simulation and control. The final year concludes with the MEng individual project and Project scoping and research methods.
