About this course
MEng (Hons) in Structural and Architectural Engineering, a civil engineering degree focused on the integrated design of buildings and structures. Core topics include Research Methods and Engineering Design. The curriculum includes studio-based projects shared with architecture students. The first year covers foundational concepts through Architectural engineering 1, Design skills, Engineering mathematics and computation 1, and Structural mechanics and materials. The second year introduces infrastructure and management topics via Architectural engineering 2, Civil engineering infrastructure 1A: hydraulics, Construction processes and management, and Soil mechanics and foundation design. The third year advances into specialized building systems with modules such as Architectural engineering 3, Joint design project, Structural and geotechnical design and analysis, and Zero-carbon building design project. The final year involves advanced study and independent research through Advanced structural engineering, Group design project: structural and architectural engineering, and MEng structural and architectural engineering dissertation.
