About this course

MPhys (Hons) in Physics, a physics degree covering fundamental principles from subatomic to cosmological scales. The course includes a final year project providing involvement in department research, alongside an MPhys research placement in the final year. The first year covers core subjects through Dynamics and astrophysics, Foundations of physics 1, Mathematics for physics 1, and Physics skills 1. The second year continues with Foundations of physics 2, Further physics: from neutrinos to black holes, Mathematics for physics 2, and Physics skills 2. The third year advances into Advanced classical mechanics, Advanced quantum mechanics, and MPhys / MSci project preparation. The final fourth year centers on the MPhys research placement.
