About this course

MPhys (Hons) in Physics with Theoretical Physics, a physics degree focused on the connections between mathematics and theoretical physical concepts. In the final year, students undertake an MPhys research placement involving independent project work. The first year covers core foundations through Dynamics and astrophysics, Foundations of physics 1, and Mathematics for physics 1. The second year expands technical proficiency with Foundations of physics 2, Mathematics for physics 2, and Techniques for theoretical physics. The third year advances into specialized study with Advanced classical mechanics, Advanced quantum mechanics, and Fluid dynamics in physics and astrophysics alongside project preparation. The final year concludes with advanced modules including Advanced general relativity, Quantum field theory, and Quantum theory of matter.
