About this course

MSci (Hons) in Mathematics and Physics, a physics and mathematics degree exploring the deep connections between mathematical theory and physical laws. Core topics include Mathematical Modelling and Research Methods. Students complete a substantial final-year research project within the department. The first year establishes fundamental principles through Core pure and applied mathematics A, Core pure and applied mathematics B, and Foundations of physics 1. The second year builds complexity with Advanced linear algebra, Differential equations and vector calculus, and Foundations of physics 2. The third year advances into specialised topics via Advanced quantum mechanics alongside MPhys / MSci project preparation. The final year centres on the MPhys/MSci research project.
