About this course
Master in Science in Environmental Change and Sustainability MSci, an environmental science degree centred on ecological systems and sustainability. Core topics include Research Methods and Fieldwork. The course includes a final-year research project and a professional placement option. The first year covers foundational concepts through One-Planet Thinking, Connected Earth: Environmental Systems and Change, Ecological Concepts and Plant Sciences, and Fieldwork: Principles and Practice. The second year progresses to advanced topics via Developing Solutions, Earth Resources, Environmental Impacts and Sustainability, Animal Biology: Principles and Mechanisms, and Critical Issues for 21st Century Ecosystems. The third year involves independent research through the Natural Sciences Group Research Project and Sustainability Research Project. Optional modules allow students to explore areas such as conservation practice, energy transitions, and resource governance.
