About this course
Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science BSc, an environmental science degree centred on natural systems, ecological processes, and human impacts on the planet. Core topics include Data Analysis, Research Methods, and Project Management. The curriculum includes fieldwork opportunities and practical training in geographical and environmental techniques. The first year covers foundational concepts through LC Applied GIS and Data Science, LC Connected Earth: Environmental Systems and Change, LC Ecological Concepts and Plant Sciences, and LC Environmental Geochemistry. The second year builds upon this knowledge with Advanced Research Methods and Project Planning, Field Research Skills for Physical Geography and Environmental Sciences, Critical Issues for 21st Century Ecosystems, and Digital data capture and analysis. Students also explore Earth Resources, Environmental Impacts and Sustainability, Ecological Systems, and Environmental Pollution and Management. Further studies examine Geological Natural Hazards, Hydroclimatology: Climate and Water, Hydrology and River Management, Palaeoecology, and Plant Sciences: from cells to the environment.
