About this course

Bachelor of Arts in History and Politics, a history and politics degree centred on the study of past societies alongside contemporary political structures and ideas. Core topics include Research Methods. The course is structured across three years of study, culminating in an independent research project. The first year introduces foundational themes through Discover History: Skills and Sources, Understanding Politics, and The Making of the Contemporary World: 1800 to the Present. Second-year modules explore focused themes such as Comparative Politics, History of Political Ideas: power, revolution and the state, and Public History, alongside various historical options. Optional modules in the second year allow students to examine specific historical eras and political debates, including The Global Cold War and Digital Democracy. The final year involves completing a dissertation.
