About this course

Master of Engineering in Materials Science and Engineering, a materials science and engineering degree focused on the structural and functional properties of engineering materials. Core topics include Data Analysis and Research Methods. The course includes a group project in the third year and an individual research project in the fourth year. The first year covers the foundations through Discover: Practical and Design Skills for Materials Science, Electrical and Magnetic Engineering, and Materials, Manufacturing and Sustainability. The second year progresses to subjects such as Design for Functional Applications 2, Fracture, Fatigue and Degradation, and Materials Characterisation and Data Analysis. The third year offers a combination of compulsory work like Group Project alongside options across advanced topics such as Advanced Manufacturing, High Performance Materials, Biomaterials, and Battery Technology and Manufacturing. The fourth year concludes with the Individual Research Project and Synoptic Materials Science.
