About this course
Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics and Philosophy, a mathematics and philosophy degree uniting formal reasoning with analytical enquiry. Core topics include Programming, Data Analysis, Statistics, Mathematical Modelling, and Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning. The first year introduces foundational concepts through Mathematical Foundations, Calculus and Linear Algebra, Probability, Data and Statistics, Problems of Philosophy A, and Philosopher's Toolkit A. The second year expands technical and theoretical understanding via Logic, Applied Linear Algebra and Optimisation, Graphs and Algorithms, and Philosophy of Mind and Language. In the final year, students can undertake a Mathematical Project or Philosophical Project, alongside specialist study in modules such as Philosophy of Mathematics, Combinatorics and Computation, Data Science and Machine Learning, and Ethics of Killing.
