About this course
Master of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering with Industrial Year MEng, a mechanical engineering degree focused on technical analysis and design. Core topics include Control Systems, Engineering Design, and Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning. Students undertake a compulsory year in industry between the third and fourth years to gain professional workplace experience. The first year covers core scientific foundations through Electronic and Electrical Engineering, Engineering Materials, Engineering Mathematics 1, and Fluid Mechanics and Energy Transfer. The second year introduces Mechatronics and Control Engineering alongside Mechanical Design A and Thermodynamics and Fluids. The third year consists entirely of the industrial placement. The fourth year advances technical capability with CFD and FEA (Computational Fluid Dynamics and Finite Element Analysis), Powertrain and Vehicle Engineering, and Sustainable Energy and the Environment. The final fifth year features an Individual Engineering Project (MEng) alongside specialised optional topics such as Artificial Intelligence for Engineers, Biomedical Engineering, and Industrial Automation and Robotics.
