About this course
Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and Social Policy, a sociology and social policy degree focused on understanding societal structures and welfare systems. Core topics include Data Analysis, Research Methods, Policy Analysis, and Social & Cultural Analysis. Students complete a dissertation in their final year. The first year covers foundational concepts through Introduction to Social Policy, The Sociological Imagination, Discovering Social Problems, and Social Research I. The second year examines theoretical frameworks and social divisions through Policy Analysis, Modern Sociological Theory, Social Research II, and Poverty, Class and Inequality. Optional modules in the final year allow specialisation in subjects such as Quantitative Data Analysis, Technology & Society, and Children as Citizens, culminating in the Social Policy, Sociology and Criminology Dissertation.
