About this course
Bachelor of Arts in Spanish and Russian BA, a Spanish, Portuguese and Latin American Studies and Russian Studies degree centred on language acquisition and cultural history. Core topics include Global & Comparative Perspective. The course includes a compulsory year abroad. The first year covers the foundations through Spanish Language 1 (Advanced), LC Russian Language 1 (Beginners): Decoding and Discovering Russian, Roots of the Rus': Language, Culture, and Civilisation and Introduction to Hispanic Cultures. The second year focuses on advanced linguistic competence through Spanish Language 2 (Advanced), Russian Language 2 (Intermediate): Russian Language in Action, 19th Century Russia through the Lens of the Novel and Icons of the Hispanic World. The final year allows specialisation in advanced fluency and cultural studies through Spanish Language Final Year, Russian Language Final Year: Towards Fluency, Business Russian and a Final Year Independent Study Module in Modern Languages Semester 1.
