About this course
BA History and Modern Languages, a modern languages degree combined with history, allows students to pair historical inquiry with the study of a language and its culture. Students select a language from French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Russian, or Spanish, available at beginner or post-qualification levels except Portuguese which is beginners only. The four-year programme includes a third year spent abroad. The course covers various historical periods and geographical regions through modules such as The Public Role of the Historian, Socialism in the United States, Understanding Italian Fascism, Mental Health in Modern Britain, Hong Kong and the World, Histories of the Polar Regions, The Wars of the Roses, and England in the 14th Century.
