About this course
BSc in BSc Childhood Studies, a social work degree examining children and adolescents from birth to nineteen within national and international settings. The first year establishes foundational concepts through modules such as Child and Adolescent Psychology, Education, Schooling and Diversity, and Childhoods in a Global Context, covering psychological, sociological and historical constructions of childhood alongside contemporary issues like education and poverty. Later stages introduce broader thematic options, including Youth, Sexualities and Gendered Violence, Therapeutic Work with Children, Disability in Society, Children and Social Harm, and Youth Justice. The final year involves an independent dissertation project focused on a selected theme within childhood studies.
