About this course

BSc in BSc Geography with Study Abroad in a Modern Language, a geography and modern languages degree centred on physical and human geography with a year abroad at a partner university. Core topics include Data Analysis. The course includes UK residential field trips in the first year and an overseas trip in the second year, followed by a third year spent studying abroad at an institution in Bonn, Grenoble, Lyon, Granada or Valencia. The programme concludes with a self-directed dissertation project and holds accreditation from the Royal Geographical Society. The course begins with a broad overview covering cities and societies, Earth's climate, and oceans and life. Subsequent study moves towards specialist units allowing students to explore areas including geographic data science, political economies and mobilities, and water and environment. The curriculum also features modules focusing on nature and environment, cryosphere, and geohumanities. A final-year dissertation project consolidates the research and methodological skills acquired throughout the degree.
