About this course

BA (Hons) in Education, an education degree centred on the study of educational practices, institutions, and ideas from diverse disciplinary perspectives. Core topics include Research Methods. Students can choose to follow an existing pathway, create a custom pathway, or study a broad variety of subjects throughout the degree, with compulsory theatre trips included in the second and third years. The first year covers core foundations through modules such as Introduction to Education Systems and Disciplines, Learning and Human Development, Education, Creativity and Culture, and Education and Social Justice. The second year introduces methodological training alongside thematic study, featuring compulsory modules like Designing Educational Research, Literature Review, Education and Psychology, and Modernity, Globalisation and Education. In the third year, students complete a compulsory dissertation of 8,000 to 10,000 words while selecting additional papers from options spanning topics such as Children’s Literature, Education, Neuroscience and Society, and Play, Creativities and Imagination.
