About this course

BSc (Hons) in Accounting with Study Abroad, an accounting and finance degree taken over four full-time years. Core topics include accounting, financial analysis, data analysis, statistics and research methods. Students spend their third year at a partner university abroad before returning to a final year that includes a dissertation on a chosen accounting topic. The degree offers exemption from some ICAEW, ACCA, ICAS and CIMA examinations, subject to module choice and marks obtained. The first year establishes the foundations through Financial Accounting, Quantitative Methods, Fundamentals of Management Accounting and Foundations of Finance, alongside an introduction to financial economics and an examination of the ethical and sustainability contexts of accounting. In the second year, Financial Management covers financing, risk and investment decisions, while Intermediate Financial Reporting introduces international reporting concepts and consolidation, and Management Accounting focuses on budget control and risk appraisal. Accounting Dissertation Preparation equips students to construct and pursue a research project. Optional modules at this stage span Accounting Information Systems and Analytics, Assurance, Business Law, Financial Management and Personal Taxation, alongside professional skills and a credit-bearing language module. The third year is spent studying abroad at a partner university. The final year pairs the compulsory Dissertation in Accounting with optional modules including Big Data Analytics, Corporate Governance, Audit and Assurance, Advanced Financial Reporting, Business Taxation and Business and Digital Strategy.
