About this course

BA (Hons) in Business and Management, a four-year undergraduate business degree that includes a placement year. Core topics include Statistics, Research Methods, Marketing, Critical & Analytical Thinking, Entrepreneurship, and Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning. Year 3 is spent on a work placement of at least 40 weeks, applying the first two years of study in a workplace setting. The degree can also be completed without placement, or with a year abroad. The first year introduces the context of business through The Changing World of Business, People, Management and Organisations, Foundations of Effective Marketing, and Financial Information in Business, alongside Strategy in Practice and Introduction to Leadership. Year 2 builds research and analytical capability with Business Research Methods and Statistics, examines Information Systems, and covers Innovation Management, while optional modules span areas such as Human Resource Management, Operations Management, Managing Marketing Communications, and Consumer Behaviour. The third year is taken up by the Placement, in which students complete a minimum of 40 weeks of work experience. In the final year, students choose one major project from Dissertation in Business and Management, New Venture Creation Project, and Organisational Behaviour and Leadership Project, each worth 40 credits. Final-year options allow specialisation in areas such as Business Analytics for Artificial Intelligence, Corporate Responsibility and Sustainability, Leadership, and People Analytics.
