About this course
BSc (Hons) Economics with Management is an economics degree that pairs core economics with modules in management, placing it in the subject area of Economics. Core topics include Programming, Data Analysis, Statistics, Mathematical Modelling, Research Methods and Entrepreneurship. The degree runs over three years full-time, with the option to add a placement year or spend a year abroad. The first year builds foundations through Principles of Economics, Economic Methods, Global Economic History and Mastering Data and Computation, with Economic Methods developing mathematical and statistical tools such as calculus, matrices and hypothesis testing, and Mastering Data and Computation introducing data analysis and programming using real-world economic data. Year 2 moves into intermediate theory and its application, with compulsory modules in Macroeconomics, Microeconomics, Econometrics and Innovation Management, plus Operations Management. Optional modules in this year include Behavioural and Experimental Economics, Intermediate Methods for Economics, Political Economy and Macroeconomic Applications and Policy. The final year centres on a compulsory Dissertation, a supervised critical investigation of a chosen economics topic, and Corporate Entrepreneurship, which examines how mid-to-large firms are structured and managed to pursue entrepreneurial activity. Further optional modules at this level include Advanced Macroeconomic Theory, Applied Econometrics, Environmental Economics and Policy and Game Theory and Applications.
