About this course
BSc (Hons) Economics with Management, an economics degree that combines the core theories of the discipline with the study of how organisations are managed and compete. Core topics include Programming, Data Analysis, Statistics, Mathematical Modelling and Research Methods. The third year is a compulsory placement of at least 40 weeks, and the final year includes a compulsory dissertation. The degree can also be completed in three years without the placement, or with a year abroad in place of it. The first year establishes the foundations through Principles of Economics, Economic Methods, Global Economic History and Mastering Data and Computation, the last introducing data analysis and programming using real economic data. Compulsory management content covers Managing Behaviour and Organisations and Introduction to Leadership. The second year moves to core economic theory and methods with Macroeconomics, Microeconomics and Econometrics, alongside Innovation Management and Operations Management; optional modules have included Behavioural and Experimental Economics, Intermediate Methods for Economics, Political Economy, and Macroeconomic Applications and Policy. Year 3 is spent on placement, applying learning from the first two years in a workplace setting. The final year centres on the compulsory Dissertation and Corporate Entrepreneurship, with optional modules such as Advanced Macroeconomic Theory, Game Theory and Applications, Environmental Economics and Policy and Labour Economics.
