About this course

LLB (Hons) Senior Status is a law degree offering an accelerated two-year route to a qualifying law degree for students who already hold a university degree. Core topics include Legal Analysis and Research Methods. The programme is research-led and forms the first stage of the professional training required to qualify as a solicitor or a barrister. The first year covers the foundations of the legal system and core private law through Introduction to English Law and Legal Method, UK Constitutional Law, Tort Law, Contract Law, European Union Law, and Administrative Law and Human Rights. The second year moves into further compulsory doctrine with Criminal Law, Land Law and Trusts Law, alongside a compulsory Dissertation in a substantive area of law, supported by one-to-one research supervision. Students also select from a range of optional modules, which may include International Human Rights, Competition Law, Company Law, Intellectual Property Law, Law and Medicine, Media Law, Private International Law, Climate Change Law and Policy, International Criminal Law and Comparative Constitutional Law.
