About this course
BSc (Hons) in Psychology and Anthropology, an interdisciplinary degree examining human minds and behaviour through combined psychological and anthropological perspectives. Core topics include statistics, research methods and communication and writing. The degree is accredited by the British Psychological Society. Students without Biology A2 at grade B or above must take Introduction to Psychology 1, while other students choose between that module and Introduction to Psychology 2. The first year's compulsory modules cover human evolution, research methods and statistics: Human Evolution and Diversity and Introduction to Psychological Research. Students choose between Introduction to Psychology 1 (cognitive and biological psychology) and Introduction to Psychology 2 (developmental and social psychology). Optional first-year choices have included People and Cultures, as well as Health, Illness and Society. Second-year compulsory modules cover both disciplines: Conceptual Issues in Psychology and Anthropology, Advanced Research Methods and Statistics, Social and Developmental Psychology, and Cognitive and Biological Psychology. Optional second-year modules extend anthropological coverage through Primate Societies and Human Minds, as well as Sex, Reproduction and Love. The final year pairs Individual Differences and Mental Health with the Psychology and Anthropology Interdisciplinary Dissertation; optional modules cover areas such as Forensic Anthropology and Evolution of Cooperation.
