About this course
DHE in Theology, Ministry and Mission, an undergraduate qualification at Cranmer Hall. The course is validated through Common Awards, and Cranmer Hall is part of St John's College, Durham University. Students can study Greek and Hebrew alongside Biblical Study. Most train for Anglican or Free Church ordained ministry or church leadership, while independent students also enrol. The first year lays the groundwork through four compulsory modules. Biblical Study introduces the study of scripture, and Greek and Hebrew can be taken alongside it. The Christian Tradition follows the development of Christian doctrine and church history, with attention to Christian ethics. Ministerial and Missional Practice turns to the work of ministry itself, covering evangelism, leadership, pastoral care and preaching, with denominational preparation for Anglican and Free Church students. Practical Theology connects theological reflection with practice, including study of death, dying and the Christian hope. All four first-year modules are compulsory, with Greek and Hebrew available as the one named option.
