About this course
MA (Hons) in Arabic and Politics, a politics and international relations and hebrew and jewish studies degree. By Year 3, all students spend the year studying in a country where Arabic is spoken. The first year covers foundational concepts through Politics and International Relations 1A: Concepts and Debates, Politics and International Relations 1B: The Global Dimension, and Political Thinkers (an introduction to political theory). Year 2 involves reading, writing, speaking, and listening, alongside breadth options such as business, economics and informatics, social policy and social anthropology, art and architectural history, history, classics and archaeology, Celtic and Scottish ethnology, linguistics and language sciences, and philosophy, divinity and law. Year 3 consists of support and advisory services including the Student Wellbeing Service, Student Counselling, Student Disability and Learning Support, and a University emergency helpline (available 24 hours a day). The final year explores specialized themes through modern Arabic literature, classical Arabic literature, Islamic thought, and Arabic feminist texts and women's rights.
