About this course
MA (Hons) in Arabic and Spanish, a Spanish, Portuguese and Latin American Studies and Hebrew and Jewish Studies degree centred on language acquisition and cultural exploration. The four-year curriculum includes a full academic year abroad in Year 3 to provide language immersion. The first year covers Islamic History and Modern Middle Eastern History. The second year builds proficiency through reading, writing, speaking, and listening alongside modules such as the religion of Islam, Islamic and Middle Eastern Cultures, Cultural Responses to War, and Migration, Exile, Diaspora. Year 3 consists of a period abroad. The final year focuses on advanced study through modules including modern Arabic literature, classical Arabic literature, Islamic thought, Arabic feminist texts and women's rights, Islam and the Middle East, and Spanish and Latin American literature, culture, politics, history and linguistics.
