About this course
Master of Biology in Biological Sciences, a biological sciences degree exploring the study of living organisms. Core topics include Programming, Data Analysis. The programme includes a placement year in industry or research. The first year focuses on foundational capabilities through student-led investigative projects and introductory coding. The second year examines specific mechanisms through natural selection and the origin of species, modern plant biology, and microbial form and function. The third year offers advanced study in subjects such as biochemistry, biotechnology, and molecular genetics. The fifth year provides opportunities to work in a research laboratory at the University of Edinburgh, another research institution, or through a year-long placement in a relevant industry.
