About this course
MA (Hons) in Celtic and French, a joint honours degree within the Celtic and French and Francophone Studies subject area. This four-year programme includes an academic year spent abroad at one or two partner institutions. The first year covers introductory options such as Celtic Civilisation 1A: Barbarians, Saints and Scholars and Celtic Civilisation 1B: Domination, Dislocation and Defiance. The second year expands upon this with courses including Heroes, Wonders, Saints and Sagas - covers medieval Welsh and Irish material and Songs, Swords, Rebels and Revivals - looks at texts from Gaelic Scotland and Early Modern and Modern Ireland. The third year is spent abroad studying or working. The final year offers advanced study through options such as The French New Wave, The Modern City: Paris, and Women Writers in Early Modern France.
