About this course

MEng (Hons) in Civil Engineering, a civil engineering degree focusing on the analysis and design of physical infrastructure. Core topics include Engineering Design and Critical & Analytical Thinking. The curriculum aligns with United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals and features technical streams in structural engineering, environmental engineering, construction management, and fire safety engineering. Year 1 establishes the mathematical foundations for engineering science and involves interdisciplinary engineering design tasks. Year 2 covers structural mechanics, engineering materials, soil mechanics and engineering geology, fluid mechanics, environmental engineering and aspects of sustainability afforded through infrastructure, engineering mathematics, and land surveying. Year 3 advances into conceptual design and sustainability, water treatment and water transport, structural analysis and engineering, and transport systems engineering. Year 4 concludes the studies with structure design, foundation engineering, hydraulic engineering, learning from past failures, and engineering design projects.
