About this course
BSc (Hons) in Computer Science and Mathematics, a mathematics and computer science degree bridging computational systems and mathematical theory. Core topics include Programming, Computer Architecture, Data Analysis, Statistics, Mathematical Modelling, Critical & Analytical Thinking, Ethics & Professional Practice, and Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning. Students complete a four-year programme with no second year entry available. The first year covers foundational concepts through computer programming, Introduction to Mathematics at University, Introduction to Mathematical Analysis, and Linear Algebra 1. The second year introduces algorithms and data structures, foundations of data science, Linear Algebra 2, Elementary Probability and Statistics, and Further Analysis and Several Variable Calculus. In the third and fourth years, students engage with computer science, artificial intelligence, relevant mathematics, and other areas of informatics, alongside practical work, independent problem solving, and group work. Optional and advanced study spans topics such as robotics, computer security, machine learning, operating systems, computer networks, Topology, Algebra, Analysis, Operational Research, Differential Equations, Numerical Analysis, and Probability and Measure Theory.
