About this course

MA (Hons) in French and English Literature, a joint honours degree in English Literature and French and Francophone Studies. The curriculum includes a full academic year abroad spent studying or working in one or two destinations. The first year covers core subjects such as poetry, drama, prose, and linguistics and English language. Year 2 introduces thematic studies through modules including Cultural Responses to War, Migration, Exile, Diaspora, Crime and Detection in Literature, and Gender and Culture. In the third year, students undertake a period abroad through study at a partner institution, working, or volunteering. Students may arrange placements independently or apply to established schemes such as the British Council's English Language Assistants programme.
