About this course

BA (Hons) in Interior Design, a fashion design degree focused on spatial arrangement and the creative reuse of existing buildings. Core topics include Engineering Design. The course is taught through dedicated studio spaces and incorporates both permanent staff and visiting industry experts. The first year covers foundational methods through physical hand drawings, sketchbooks and model-making. The second year develops analytical skills with precedent study analysis, inclusive design principles, socially contextual projects, change of use, sustainable approaches and material understanding. The third year advances technical capabilities through spatial layout, the section, material specification and assembly, lighting design, advanced CAD and visualisation, interior construction detailing and principles of building standards. The fourth year enables specialisation driven by personal reflection, contextual and theoretical learning, specialist disciplinary knowledge and the needs and aspirations of the relevant user group.
