About this course
MA (Hons) in Italian and History of Art, a degree in Italian and History of Art focusing on language acquisition and the study of visual and material culture. The course includes a compulsory year abroad spent studying or working in destinations such as Bologna, Florence, Rome or Venice. The first year covers introductory subjects including art and architectural history, linguistics and language sciences, and politics, social policy, social anthropology and international relations. The second year builds on this foundation through modules such as Cultural Responses to War, Migration, Exile, Diaspora, Crime and Detection in Literature, Gender and Culture, The Coming-of-Age Narrative, Introduction to European Cinema, Dynamics of Language and Power, and Languages Beyond University. The third year is spent abroad in Italy, offering opportunities for study or work across various destinations. In the final stages, students specialise further while completing their degree.
