About this course

MA (Hons) in Italian and Philosophy, a humanities degree centred on language study and philosophical inquiry. The course includes a compulsory year abroad spent studying or working in Italy. The first year covers foundational modules such as morality and value, history of philosophy (Western and non-Western traditions), logic, and philosophy of science. The second year expands into epistemology, metaphysics, philosophy of language, and philosophy of mind. The third year consists of a full academic year abroad, allowing students to study or work in locations such as Bologna, Catania, Florence, Milan, Pisa, Rome, Siena, Verona, and Venice. The final year focuses on advanced linguistic competence through spoken Italian - discussing, reflecting and presenting on Italian culture, politics and society, essay and creative writing, and Italian-to-English translation of literary and journalistic texts.
