About this course

LLB (Hons) in Law and German, a Law and German degree offering combined studies across legal frameworks and language disciplines. Core topics include Legal Analysis. This four-year course includes a compulsory year abroad during the third year at an institution where teaching is conducted in German. The first year covers the foundations through Scottish Legal System, Contract Law, Family Law and Public Law of the UK and Scotland. The second year progresses with Property Law, Criminal Law, Delict and Jurisprudence alongside language instruction in translation and grammar. The fourth year includes advanced legal study in subjects such as Commercial Law and Criminology, alongside German-to-English translation of literary and journalistic texts, essay and précis writing, and specialized literature topics including Goethe and Schiller.
