About this course
BSc (Hons) in Mathematics and Business, a mathematics and business and management degree splitting study evenly between the two subjects. Core topics include Programming, Statistics, Mathematical Modelling, Financial Analysis, and Entrepreneurship. Students can choose to specialise in particular aspects of mathematics or business, examine the links between the two subjects, or study a broad range of topics in later years. The first year covers foundational concepts through Introduction to Mathematical Analysis, Linear Algebra 1, Global Challenges for Business, and The Business of Edinburgh. The second year builds competence via Linear Algebra 2, Elementary Probability and Statistics, Further Analysis and Several Variable Calculus, and Modelling and Computing. The third year continues with advanced topics such as Topology, Algebra, Analysis, and Operational Research alongside business courses. The fourth year offers specialised study in areas including pure mathematics, applied mathematics, statistics, and corporate finance.
