About this course
MA (Hons) in Middle Eastern Studies, a Hebrew and Jewish Studies degree centred on the societies, cultures, and history of the Middle East. The four-year programme includes a dissertation in the final year and requires students to study at least one of the main regional languages in the first year. The first year covers foundational subjects through Arabic, Persian, Turkish, and Islamic history, spanning the period 550 CE to around 1650. Year 3 involves focused study across history, politics, social policy, social anthropology and international relations, religion, and history of art and cultural studies. Throughout the course, students engage with diverse academic disciplines ranging from literature to politics.
