About this course
MA (Hons) in Persian and Social Anthropology, an anthropology and hebrew and jewish studies degree combining the study of a major middle eastern language with human behaviour and social contexts. The programme is designed for complete beginners as well as heritage language learners, building advanced translation and communication abilities over four years. The course spans four years, incorporating language study alongside a wide disciplinary scope. The second year features study across business, economics and informatics, politics, international relations and social policy, art and architectural history, history, classics and archaeology, celtic and scottish ethnology, linguistics and language sciences, and philosophy, divinity and law. Support provisions such as the student wellbeing service, student counselling, student disability and learning support, and university emergency helpline are accessible during the third year. The fourth year focuses on advanced topics through a course in persian literature - either classical or modern, and a course in persian or middle eastern culture, depending on your area of interest.
