About this course

BSc (Hons) in Physics, a physics degree exploring the fundamental processes of the universe and its underlying laws. Core topics include Programming, Data Analysis, Statistics, Mathematical Modelling, Laboratory Techniques, and Research Methods. The course is delivered across a flexible three or four-year structure with broad foundations in the early stages and opportunities for specialisation in later years. The first year covers waves, classical mechanics, electricity, introductory quantum mechanics, and nuclear and particle physics. The second year introduces algebra, calculus, dynamics and vector calculus, programming, data analysis, and experimental techniques. The third year advances through research methods in physics, Fourier analysis and statistics, electromagnetism, thermal physics, and quantum mechanics. The fourth year concludes with specialized studies in relativity, nuclear and particle physics, experimental techniques, and condensed matter physics.
