About this course

MPhys in Physics, a physics degree exploring the fundamental processes of the universe and its physical laws. Core topics include Programming, Data Analysis, Statistics, Mathematical Modelling, and Laboratory Techniques. The curriculum provides broad foundational study in early years followed by specialised advanced topics, concluding with an extended project in the final year. The first year covers introductory quantum mechanics, classical mechanics, electricity, waves, and nuclear and particle physics. The second year introduces experimental techniques, programming, data analysis, algebra, calculus, and dynamics and vector calculus. The third year advances through thermodynamics, electromagnetism, quantum mechanics, and Fourier analysis and statistics. The final year focuses on advanced subjects including statistical physics, condensed matter physics, relativity, nuclear and particle physics, and quantum physics.
