About this course

MA (Hons) in Primary Education with Gaelic (Fluent Speakers), an education degree focused on preparing teachers for Gaelic-medium and English primary settings. Core topics include Research Methods. The four-year programme is delivered jointly between Moray House School of Education and Sport and the School of Literatures, Languages and Cultures. The first year introduces foundational themes through Primary Studies, Primary Literacies, Educational Studies, and Gaelic 1B. The second year continues with Primary Studies, Educational Studies, Gaelic 2B, Linguistics and the Gaelic Language, and Mathematics in Primary Education. The third year involves a year-long school placement in a Gaelic-medium setting combined with studying Education and Gaelic in Scotland and Primary Studies. The final year covers Primary Literacies, Educational Studies including a dissertation, Theory and Pedagogy of Bilingual and Immersion Education, and Additional Support for Learning.
