About this course

MA (Hons) in Russian Studies and English Literature, a English Literature and Russian Studies degree centred on the study of texts in both English and Russian across multiple periods. The first year introduces foundational subjects through poetry, drama, prose, and linguistics and English language alongside optional breadth choices. Year 2 covers specialized subjects such as Transnational Russian Culture, The Golden Age of Russian Literature, and Utopia and Dystopia in 20th-century Russian Literature, alongside various comparative literature themes. Year 3 involves a period abroad or university-level placement relevant to the programme structure. Year 4 focuses on advanced proficiency through reading and writing including translation, and speaking and listening.
