About this course
MA (Hons) in Scandinavian Studies and English Literature, an undergraduate joint honours degree in English Literature and German. The programme includes a compulsory academic year spent abroad in Scandinavia for study or work. The first year covers foundational study through poetry, drama and prose alongside options across humanities and social sciences. Year two explores modules such as Cultural Responses to War, Migration, Exile, Diaspora and Crime and Detection in Literature. The third year is spent abroad studying or working in one or two destinations. The final year focuses on advanced language and regional topics, featuring compulsory modules such as essay, commentary and summary writing, translation from the Scandinavian languages into English, and spoken Danish, Norwegian or Swedish.
