About this course
MA (Hons) in Scandinavian Studies and Linguistics, an undergraduate degree in English Language and Linguistics and German. The course includes an integrated full academic year abroad, which can involve studying or working in one or two destinations. The first year covers foundational modules such as Linguistics and English Language 1A and Linguistics and English Language 1B. The second year explores various thematic topics including Cultural Responses to War, Migration, Exile, Diaspora and Crime and Detection in Literature alongside Dynamics of Language and Power. The third year is spent abroad studying or working in one or two international destinations. The final year offers advanced study in modules such as spoken Danish, Norwegian or Swedish, Old Norse Literature and Society, Viking Studies, Child bilingualism, Pragmatics and Phonological theory.
